We know that your first experience on the mat can be pretty intense. 


Here we want to give you a few more tips if you're not sure about your choice of intensity or perhaps feel like you can't last 5 minutes.


Spoilt for choice!

Here is an overview again of the different mats, as we have three intensities:


Light: 8,280 spikes

Original: 6,210 spikes

Intense: 4,140 spikes


In other words, the more spikes, the softer the stinging sensation. You can also soften the effect by placing the mat on a soft surface or placing a thin cloth over the tips.


Thought carousel - pain:

If you have the feeling that your thoughts are only revolving around the pain, then a sound meditation might be helpful. While you listen, we recommend that you focus on your breathing and on the sensations in your body, to soften where there is pain, to open up to the sensation and not to judge the experience so much as pain but as invitation to go deeper.

Happiness Hormones Hello!

Take it slow! Reaching the 5-minute mark is important here, because it takes a while for our body's own painkillers, called happiness hormones, to be released. Once this happens, you will notice that the tingling and prickling sensation is accompanied by a pleasant war feeling in your body, that makes you more relaxed. 


Switch to a lighter mat:

If none of this helps, you can exchange your mat for a lighter version by simply sending it back to us within the returns period and getting the light version.
